Canon: Fire Emblem: Fates
Canon Point: Post Corrin's abduction in Chapter 3.

Background: Wiki!

Personality:
It's impossible to start discussing Camilla's character without first discussing how she was raised. Born to a concubine of King Garon, Camilla was raised in the Nohrian court as a 'princess.' Although the title often implies a easy or simple life, the truth in the court was anything but. King Garon had several concubines, each with their own child, and each wanting their own child to ascend the throne. To this end, they were often at war with each other, and often put their children in the line of fire. It's not outright stated, but the implication given in the game is that more than one of Camilla's half-siblings had died, possibly by her own hand.

Camilla was a timid child who would often hide away from conflict at fairs and festivals, but managed to make it to 'adulthood' (her late teenage years) while serving as a mother figure to her siblings. In her supports with Xander, it's shown that often the other siblings will come to her for advice. Her role as a motherly figure doesn't end with her blood siblings, however, as she's shown as a motherly presence to others in the army, as well. Of particular note is her retainer Beruka, whom Camilla first met when the other was hired to assassinate her. Noticing the pain within Beruka, Camilla offered to hire her on the spot, and began to act as a supporting figure towards her. This says nothing of her relationship with the avatar. While she loves the avatar dearly, it is clear that the love is almost suffocating at some times. Her support with Niles addresses this; Niles calls Camilla pathetic and insists that she shows so much love to others because she's hoping to be loved in turn. She doesn't deny this, but she also explains that she understands what it's like to be without love, and she dotes on the avatars and others so that they don't have to know such a pain.

Despite being so loving, however, Camilla is ruthless when it comes to her enemies. Nothing serves better to highlight this than her supports with Elise, where she remarks that "[they] never need to show such [mercy and kindness] to [their enemies]." Her words against her enemies are pointed and harsh, and her axe even moreso. In her pre-battle conversation with Hinoka, Camilla rubs salt on the wound that avatar returned to Nohr, even though at the time Hinoka was only defending her homeland. In the Birthright route, where Avatar takes the side of Hoshido, Camilla remarks that she'll kill all of Avatar's 'friends,' so that Avatar will remember who their true family is.

This brings up another core part of her personality; while she often might use indirect speech, she can be quite stubborn and isn't afraid to 'order' others around when she needs to. In her supports with Benny, she kindly asks him to take care of a bear around the camp, and makes it quite clear that she won't take 'no' for an answer.

While being stubborn, her actions in the Birthright route also underline a fundamental insecurity; she loves her family and her loved ones, but she can't deal with them leaving her. Several other conversations with Hinoka in the Conquest route highlight this; each time the two meet, Camilla reinforces the idea that Avatar is her sibling, and not Hinoka's.

As unforgiving and ruthless as Camilla can be, she's still able to find the light in others, and almost seems envious. In her supports with Odin, she remarks that the world is a better place with "him in it," and in her supports with Elise she remarks that Elise's bright disposition and kindness were something that kept her going even in the darkest days of living in Nohr. Camilla tends to handle stress and difficult situations with a certain grace, but it's clear that living in Nohr for so long has left a deep scar.

Ultimately, after the war is over, Camilla retires from politics to care for her family, which reinforces the things she cares about and what her priorities are. She can do politics, but she'd rather not, and her biggest concern is for the people around her.

As long as she considers them her allies, of course.

Abilities: Camilla possesses the ability to activate "Dragon's Vein" areas, but otherwise possesses no extra abilities. She's trained to wield tomes (although to what degree is debatable), and axes (very well). She also has experience riding a wyvern, and her hobbies are sewing and embroidery.

Alignment: Elios. When Camilla loves somebody, she really loves them, but when she hates somebody she really hates them.

Other: Wyvern stuff.

Questions: Would it be okay to bring her pet Wyvern with her? He doesn't have a canon personality, per se, but they've been together long enough that she's fairly adapt at controlling him.
